4.0 bug

playing a defence german vs. ameicans, taken out 4 tanks with 2 field guns, and an 88 was working well stopping a concentrated infantry attack on the right flank. (world full of poor quality infantry). right at the end, enemy advanced positions surrendering and now its just the wounded on the right causing harrasment for my guys trying to clear up.

without being told of it both my guns get taken out by grenades, but there is no smoke, and no infantry near the 50, and im quite certain they got pushed back out of grenade range from the 88.

i was watching it at the time and saw no grenades, and then both crews are flopping about in their positions, rather than converting to infantry.

I'll be interested to see what Sean's got to say about this one. I've had it happen to me as well but I assumed some enemy inf had managed to get close to the gun while I was looking elsewhere.

(There was an enemy inf squad sniffing around in that part of the board and I'm not sure how well ATGs spot infantry).

Perhaps the answer is as simple as not deploying ATGs out on the flanks by themselves?

but there are damned good snipers and suppressors...

admittedly i didnt have solid line of infantry, and there was a good 50m between the 50 and the nearest guy. but there was no smoke from either, and no sign of infantry near the 50 at all.



thought a similar thing had happened again last night - german halftrack going full speed across a field towards some infantry (annoyed with lack of flamethrowers in the german tanks ive modded a halftrack with just a flamethrower as its weapon) and it just plan explodes! first thoughts, bazooka?? the same glitch??? no, taking a closer look it seems that the most unlikely thing ever happened - it got hit by an enemy arty sighting round :roll:

I've had that happen. I guess that, if you play enough games of something like Firefight, you start to see events that would normally be statistically improbable.

Regrading your original post, I've also noticed that troops will grenade (out of spite? :) ) an abandoned enemy ATG that they happen to come across.

yeah i can definately say ive played enough games for this to start happening.

on grenades - how rubbish are troops at throwing grenades??

I may be going out on a limp there, but in support of the Firefight soldiers I dare to say that things like that might get a little trickier when you are lying flat on your stomach in the mud in a place you don't even know has a name with bullets wizzing over your head and people actually wanting to kill you after you've spend some time on the line in which you hardly ever got to sleep or rest for real. Well, I don't know. Maybe you're still right.

now happened 2 times in a row, no infantry anywhere close either time. second time was the start of a major tank attack, so not such a great time to lose a big gun.

im fairly sure i downloaded 4.0, but the about says 3.99v
