Beta testers for the new lobby system needed!

Post by Sean OConnor » Fri Jun 08, 2007 4:53 pm

The lobby system is just about finished now and I'd be very grateful if anybody (who has bought a full version) would like to help test it.

Just send me an email to sean@windowsgames.co.uk and please include your order email receipt as proof of purchase if you've got that handy.

hi Sean,

I think your appeal would be more successful if you would give some details of what "beta tester" entails. It would also save you the time of explaining it separately to each responder.

Basically it's just to test out the new lobby feature in Conquest and to make sure nothing else has been broken by adding the lobby.

... and what is "the lobby feature"?
If it's multi-real player than I can't help you.
If it's standalone vs the PC I can Beta test.

Yes, the lobby is basically a list of people who have set up their game to be a network server and are happy to make that public. Other people can then see that list and choose to connect to one of the servers.

I'll be making other changes to the game though so it's always useful for me to have people test the non-networking game features too in case anything gets broken on the way.

A friend a I will be testing Tuesday about 10pm EST.
Others are welcome to join.

Sean,
Does the lobby keep in touch with games that have been started?
They way others could tell what games are in process and possiably what for them to end.

Yes. In the lobby list (in the New Network Game dialog box) all currently running public games are listed. If the game is in progress it is shown in black text, and games that are yet to start are in green and shown at the top of the list.
